Arfield’s new contract comes just days after he netted the winner against Rangers on his return to Scotland, and the Scot says extending his stay at Turf Moor was a ‘no-brainer’.

“I’m buzzing and I think this is an indication from the club that they want to be back in the Premier League and that’s certainly where I want to be,” he told Clarets Player.

“Tom Heaton and I were in the same situation in terms of wanting to pledge our future to get this club back into the top flight and we’ve got a great platform to do so.”

The former Huddersfield Town man joined the Clarets in 2013 on a free transfer, and says the club’s progress in that time has been a whirlwind journey on a personal level.
