The goalkeeper rounded off the season with a 10th clean sheet in the 1-0 win at Aston Villa, just days after receiving first England call-up.

And he admitted he was grateful to get the recognition from his team-mates.

“I’m proud and delighted to get that, and thankful to them. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the season playing with everyone,” said the stopper, who rounded off the season with consecutive shut-outs on a three-game unbeaten run, which included back-to-back away wins.

Lancashire Telegraph:

“Obviously there’s disappointment at going down, especially considering how close we went, but we can take the positives into next season.”

Boyd, who scooped the final prize of the night, was recognised by supporters for his work rate on the right wing and five-goal return - the last of was the winner at home to Manchester City, and earned him the goal of the season award too, following a vote on the night.

“I’m delighted. It’s a massive achievement for me in my first season,” said the former Peterborough and Hull City wide man, who made a deadline day £3million move from the KC Stadium.

“The next move had to be right and to play week in week out has been massive for me.

“As a team we’ve done well, we’ve just had minor setbacks throughout the season but we will be back next year.”

Danny Ings was rewarded for top-scoring with 11 goals in his debut Premier League season.

“I wouldn’t have scored any of those goals if it wasn’t for my team-mates. They’ve been absolutely fantastic, and the staff as well for believing in me and working with me every day on the training ground” said the striker, who is set to leave at the end of his four-year contract.

Ings rounded off the campaign with the winner - a glancing header - in the final game at Aston Villa.

“As a striker it’s important you can score all different types of goals and not limit yourself to one sort of goal,” he said.

“I’ve got a few headers, so I’m proud of that. It was massive for me to sign off like that at Villa after four years here.”

Meanwhile, Centurion awards were presented to captain Jason Shackell, defender Ben Mee and Ings for reaching 100 appearances for Burnley.
